Youth Mental Health: First Aid (Y/MHFA)

FreeMercy Care is offering Youth Mental Health: First Aid (Y/MHFA) at no cost.
This training REQUIRES learners to complete a 2 hour, self-paced online course BEFORE this training. Do NOT register unless you can complete the PRE-REQUISITE
This interactive class raises awareness and improves literacy around youth mental health. You will learn how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among youth ages 12 to 18, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD).
Who should attend:
This is an introductory course for individuals with little experience in assisting youth with mental health challenges; including teachers, school staff, coaches, camp counselors, parents or caregivers, and other adults who work with youth. Instructors create a safe and welcoming environment to support sharing, learning and growth. Be prepared to engage in discussions and activities.
Participants will learn about:
- Signs and symptoms of mental health and substance abuse challenges
- Interacting with youths in crisis
- Connecting the youth with help
- Trauma, substance use, self-care and the impact of social media on bullying
This training REQUIRES learners to complete a 2 hour, self-paced online course before this training. Once registered all information will be sent.
